Founded in 2004 by veteran Yuba College music professor and impresario Joaquina Calvo Johnson, the Yuba Sutter Master Chorale has earned a region-wide reputation for professional-quality performances of choral music.  Under the direction of Mrs. Johnson's hand-picked successor, Yuba City native Kathryn Donovan Campbell, the Chorale continued to explore the inexhaustible realm of Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Modern masterpieces, as well as exciting arrangements of pop and jazz standards.  Our legacy continued with appointed Artistic Director, Adrian Mora, and Interim Artistic Director, Dean Estabrook.

The Yuba Sutter Master Chorale is an ensemble comprised of singers from throughout the Yuba, Sutter, Colusa and Sacramento areas. The Chorale reflects a stunning cross-section of singers including nurses, lawyers, students, teachers, government employees, pastors and many other professional groups. The common thread is the love of choral singing and the desire to express through the human voice great choral literature from throughout the ages.

In the Fall of 2021, we welcomed our current director, Carolyn Steele.  Carolyn hails from the "land of 10,000 choirs" in Minnesota.  She is known for programming music that is emotionally engaging for audiences and performers. A decade of singing with the esteemed VocalEssence Ensemble Singers, Carolyn honed her skill and gained a breadth of repertoire that we are excited to share with the Yuba-Sutter community.
